ABOUT STABLE END

Nestled on the edge of the picturesque village of Walsham-le-Willows, Stable End Holiday Cottage is a beautifully renovated former stable that perfectly blends original character with modern comfort. Set within a peaceful working farm, it’s an idyllic rural retreat for couples, families, or friends seeking to slow down, reconnect and enjoy the very best of Suffolk.

Step inside to a bright, vaulted open-plan living space, where exposed beams, natural light, and a cosy wood-burning stove create a welcoming atmosphere. Logs are provided for your first night, with extra available to purchase; ideal for those evenings curled up with a good book or favourite film. Underfloor heating keeps things warm throughout the year, and the thoughtfully designed single-level layout ensures both comfort and accessibility.

Stable End sleeps up to five guests across two inviting bedrooms; one double, and one double with an additional single bed , plus a modern shower room with everything you need for a relaxing stay. For entertainment, brand-new Smart TVs are fitted in the living room and both bedrooms, so you can easily log in to your Netflix or Prime accounts.

Outside, the fully enclosed rear courtyard is the perfect spot for morning coffee or evening drinks, while giving peace of mind that your dogs are safe and secure. Guests also have access to a shared three-acre paddock, ideal for a good run — please note this area is not fully enclosed but has post-and-rail fencing. Around the farm, you may meet our friendly resident chickens and cockerel as they wander about. Stable End has private on-site parking for up to four cars within the gated entrance.

From your doorstep, you can enjoy direct access to scenic public footpaths leading through quiet lanes, open fields and ancient woodlands. Whether it’s a leisurely stroll or a full day’s hike, the peaceful surroundings make every walk memorable. Within a short drive, you’ll find traditional Suffolk pubs, charming market towns, and a wealth of attractions — from historic houses and gardens to family days out. We are situated approx 14 miles from Bury St Edmunds, officially named the UK’s most dog friendly town; brimming with sites, tours, shops and endless things to explore! DOG FRIENDLY HOLIDAY

As dog lovers ourselves, we welcome dogs with open arms! We allow up to 3 dogs for your stay. Stable End is completely dog friendly with no restrictions to certain rooms; throws are provided for comfort on the furniture. We’ve even installed a PetJet Hot Water Shower in the fully-enclosed courtyard; handy for muddy paws and shoes after countryside adventures. If you have a reactive dog, please be aware that we do have dogs living on the premises that our guests will likely encounter during your stay!

We’re delighted you’re considering Stable End Holiday Cottage for your Suffolk escape. Booking is simple:

Enquire – Complete the enquiry form on our website with your preferred dates.
Confirm – Our team will contact you to confirm availability and pricing.
Pay – Your booking will be confirmed once full payment has been received.

Please note: We do not accept deposits. Your dates will not be reserved until payment in full is received.

Rates & Minimum Stay

3-night minimum stay (no maximum)

3 nights: £150 per night
4–5 nights: £137.50 per night
over 5 nights (no max): £125 per night
Dogs welcome (up to 3) at £25 per dog – Please specify on your enquiry form.

Payments

Payment is taken in full at the time of booking.
We accept BACS or via a PayPal link – payment details will be provided in your booking confirmation email.
Provisional bookings can be held for up to 48 hours pending payment.

Summary of Key Terms

Arrival from 3:00pm / departure by 10:00am. Late check-out may be arranged in advance for a small fee, subject to availability.
Cancellations: Full refund if cancelled more than 60 days before arrival; no refund for cancellations within 60 days.
Please treat the property with care; damages may be charged.
Bookings must be made by persons aged 18 or over.
Only guests named on the booking form may stay.
No parties, hen/stag dos, or events allowed without prior written consent.

It has plenty of off-road, secure parking next to the accommodation with easy access.
The property is spacious (we were 4 adults and 2 dogs) clean and well-presented.
The bedrooms are an ample size and the beds comfortable.
The kitchen is well-equipped with good quality appliances and utensils.
When we arrived there was a welcome pack including treats for the dogs and the property is very dog-friendly with good walks from the doorstep.
The owners are friendly and helpful and made our stay a relaxing one.

It was the perfect setting for our group of 3 adults, 1 teenager and small dog. It was wonderfully warm and cosy, making it an ideal spot to relax. The decor was absolutely lovely, with charming Christmas touches that added to the festive atmosphere. The cottage was also exceptionally well-equipped, offering everything we needed and more, making our stay incredibly comfortable. We were welcomed with fresh eggs and milk, a bottle of wine, and dog treats, which was such a thoughtful and delightful touch. The surrounding area offered plenty of beautiful walks for us and our dog, with lovely scenery that made every outing memorable. The cottage itself was very peaceful, providing a true escape from the everyday. Adele, the host, was communicative and welcomed us on arrival, ensuring that we had everything we needed for a perfect stay. I walk with a stick and the cottage was all on one level with no stairs or steps so I would recommend for those with accessibility issues. Would definitely stay again!

They really enjoyed the countryside setting and seeing the chickens in the farmyard. It was very close for trips into Bury St Edmunds and we had nice walks straight from the farm along the local footpaths - would be perfect for those with dogs.
Big TVs in the lounge and bedrooms.
Hosts Aaron and Adele were really lovely and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. Would stay again and recommend for families, people with dogs, couples looking for a quiet escape etc.

Great courtyard to enjoy the sunshine was great to hear geese, ducks and a resident Cockerell.  Close to some wonderful on lead and off lead walks.  Eateries short drive away with white horse offering take away gluten free fish n chips.  Easy access to Bury st. Edmunds,  Cambridge and Norwich.  Cottage is well equipped great shower and lovely comfortable beds.  Plenty of room for us 4.  Dogs well catered for.  Owners cannot not do enough to assist.  Definetely will stay again.

 Verified A great stay Stable End! We found the beds to be super comfortable and all the furnishings are very high quality. A lovely basket of dog goodies including toys and blanket was a lovely surprise. The location is rural and absolutely silent at night (bar a rogue duck quack from the nearby pond!) and the views are gorgeous. We would definitely recommend a stay here.
